Fashion show a huge success

Posted on October 9, 2008 by Sonoma Valley Sun

The sixth annual Fashion in the Vineyards event raised more than $75,000 for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Sonoma Valley on Thursday evening, Sept. 11 at Cline Cellars. The fund-a-need item raised $40,000 for the Clubs’ Prevention and Leadership programs, including The Keystone Club, a chartered leadership and service club for teens aged 14-18. The group’s current community service project is graffiti removal, which it does twice a week throughout the Valley in coordination with the Sonoma Valley Sheriff’s Department.
The evening’s main event was the fashion show, with women’s clothes by Helen Lyall and men’s clothes by Mario’s  Men’s Store. Local models included Paula Parks, Dana Freudenberger, Melanie Schwartz, Stephanie Dunn, Valerie Pistole, Deborah Emery, Julie Atwood, Ginny Krieger, George Rosenfield, Ryan Lely and Conny Gustafsson.
The popular Boys & Girls Club member fashion show was sponsored by Kohl’s Department Store. In a nod to the “Wild About Fashion” theme, the children came out holding animal masks created in the art room and walked the runway to “The Lion Sleeps Tonight.” Thanks to Kohl’s, each child was able to keep the outfit they modeled, including a new pair of shoes.
Guests enjoyed an international meal catered by An Affair to Remember and wines were provided by Beringer Vineyards. Rotarians served as volunteers for the event. The Boys & Girls Clubs of Sonoma Valley is grateful for the large turnout in support of the annual fundraiser.
