Snap 2016-08-01 at 16.45.46A 3.3 magnitude earthquake shook Kenwood and the surrounding area at 4:32 PM on Monday.

Reports of the rumble came from as far as Petaluma, Napa and Calistoga. The epicenter was near Sugarloaf Mountain.

Kenwood resident Adrienne Shubin described it as “other-wordly,” on Facebook, and said she heard a “loud noise” that was “totally terrifying.”

Imagery Winery and Benziger Family Winery both confirmed the earthquake on Twitter, too.

  1. Felt the earthquake immediately in Glen Ellen today–not typical, no sudden jolt, no creaking or swaying, but felt like a small stampede of hooved animals had just rumbled through the house and garden!! Wasn’t it this month 2 yrs ago that we had the awful destructive quake centered in Napa? Are we more prepared?? Get ready NOW.
